Hörner | Antlfinger deal since the 1990s with explosive political subjects in the »Art System« and the »EverythingElseSystem« through a dialogue with human and nonhuman entities and open up critical perspectives on the increasing permeation of technology in our living environment. Their spatial stories speak about interactive systems – about individuals and computers, cities and their inhabitants, about animals who are loved and animals who are eaten.
Ute Hörner studied sculpting at the Akademie der bildenden Künste, Stuttgart, and media art at the Kunsthochschule für Medien, Köln. In 2008 she directed the festival Videonale 8 in the Bonner Kunstverein. From 1998 to 2008 she was professor for media art at Burg Giebichenstein, HKD Halle.
Mathias Antlfinger studied sculpting, mathematics and cybernetics at the Akademie der bildenden Künste, Stuttgart, and at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. He is a member of the artists group »Büro Bert« and founder member of »XObject Space«, an art and media space in Düsseldorf.
Since 2009 Ute Hörner and Mathias Antlfinger are lecturers at the Kunsthochschule für Medien, Köln. Their work got multiple awards and was part of numerous exhibitions and international festivals like Ars Electronica, Austria, Transmediale Berlin, Digital Art Festival Taipei, Shedhalle Zürich, Museum Ludwig, Köln.
